Jaswant ThadaMajor Attractions: Marble Cenotaph, Royal Memorials, Gardens, Lake ViewsTop Activities: Sightseeing, photography, cultural exploration, relaxationDuration: 1 HourBest Time to Visit: October to MarchAlso known as “the Taj Mahal of Marwar”, Jaswant Thada stands near the massive Mehrangarh Fort as a pristine white marble mausoleum. This magnificent monument, dedicated to the father of Maharaja Sardar Singh, Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, was commissioned in 1899 by his patron for his father. This is an exquisitely and perfectly manicured monument where you are embraced by peace and solitude. A work of art, this masterpiece of architecture features incredibly polished slabs of the smoothest white marble, so thin that it seems as if they glow from within (sunlight shines right through), and the delicate latticework with an extremely ornate dome create a magnificent display of Rajput architecture in Rajasthan. Additional cenotaphs of the rulers of the Jodhpur royal family are located in the cenotaph complex. The tranquil and exquisitely serene small lake and the manicured lush green gardens add a unique appeal and tranquil ambience to the locale, while offering unparalleled vistas of Mehrangarh Fort and blue Jodhpur.
