Known for its beautiful landscape that transforms into a vibrant floral carpet during monsoon season (August to October), earning it the moniker of Maharashtra's Valley of Flowers. The 1200 meters-high plateau is an ecologically sensitive zone home to unique flora and fauna species that have adapted to thrive in its lateritic soil, including orchids, shrubs and even carnivorous Utricularia indica plants. There are more than 850 flowering plants blooming at this UNESCO World Heritage Site to create a vibrant sea of colour: orchids, shrubs and Utricularia indica species among them! Although the plateau boasts rich biodiversity, its fragile ecosystem remains vulnerable to climate and anthropogenic changes. Tourists are an additional threat, leading to overcrowding, habitat disruption, and waste output, which further threaten this unique ecoregion. Kaas Plateau should be visited from September to the second week of October when its exquisite flowers are at their most vibrant. At this time of year, temperatures remain cool and pleasant with occasional mist heightening the visual experience. Although open throughout the year, weekday visits offer less crowded experiences. Once at Velhe, the first stage is relatively straightforward with gradual ascent over rocky terrain along well-marked trails; flower beds and waterfalls may provide you with breathtaking sights as you climb higher! Finally, as you move higher still the landscape becomes even more captivating! After an hour of trekking, Torna Fort will come into view and the trek becomes increasingly challenging when you must scale steep rocky patches to reach its summit. Gorakhgad Fort Trekking is an easy and fun outdoor activity, but it requires participants to be in good physical shape. The initial part is relatively relaxing as participants hike along well-marked forest trails before arriving at Shiva Temple at the base of the fort, where the final ascent begins, which can be both steep and risky if attempted without caution or guide accompaniment. Once at the summit, you will be met by breathtaking views of Ahupe Ghat and Siddhagad. There is also a small Mahadev temple with Nandi there, which adds even further charm to this Gorakhgad Fort Trek experience. Additionally, this is also an excellent spot from which to witness sunrise! Fort Gorakhnath takes its name from Saint Gorakhnath, who is believed to have meditated here during Mauryan rule. This fort served as a watch tower to monitor trade passes as well as providing royals a place from which they could keep an eye out for enemies from above.Trending packages: Panchgani Waterfall Trek | Torna Fort Trek | Bhorgiri to Bhimashankar Trek | Vikatgad Peb Fort Trek
