About Ratangad Fort Trek:
Get out and experience one of Maharashtra's most rewarding trekking destinations - Ratangad Fort in India's Western Ghats - on an exhilarating trek that will engage both body and mind. Travel through thick forests, cliff edges, old fort damages, breathtaking panoramic views of the Sahyadri mountain range & lush green valleys before arriving at this challenging yet rewarding trekking spot filled with ancient temples, water cisterns, bastions & an eye of the Needle geological formation! Ratangad Fort Trek begins in Ratanwadi village and will lead you on an enjoyable trek through dense woods and rugged terrain, passing a dam, river, and jungle before reaching its base at Ratangad Fort. Once at its base, climb a series of ladders up to its first gate, where there is also a cave that you can camp out in for your stay on Ratangad. On weekends, local villages set up small shacks within this cave to serve lime juice, tea, snacks and lunch. Once at the summit of the fort, take some time to explore its many structures and capture stunning photographs before enjoying a delicious lunch, before beginning your descent back down towards the base village. Ratangad Fort should be explored between September and October, when monsoon rains transform the Western Ghats into an exquisite sight. You may still visit at any other time; your trekking experience may differ according to weather conditions at that particular moment in time.
