Found in the Singalila Ridge of the Eastern Himalayas, the Sandakphu to Phalut trekking trail is a stunning and well-known path running along the borders of India and Nepal. Unrivalled panoramic views on this trek are afforded by four of the five highest peaks in the world: Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, and Makalu. Giving a rich Himalayan experience, the road from Sandakphu to Phalut runs across lush rhododendron forests, peaceful villages, and open alpine meadows. Traditionally, this was a typical route for cultural and trade between India and Nepal. Early hikers and climbers saw the trail for its strategically beneficial views. It also has spiritual worth for those local people who adore Kanchenjunga as the "Sleeping Buddha." From British colonial times, the region has attracted adventurers and is still quite much a member of the Darjeeling Himalayan heritage.
