Life is unpredictable and we understand that sometimes you have to cancel or change your trip dates and we endeavour to make it as easy as possible for you. However, please understand that we plan everything including guide fees, permits, accommodation and rations in advance. Therefore, any cancellation means inconvenience and certain losses to the people involved in various stages of the programme. Keeping that in mind, our cancellation charges are as below -

• Cancellations before 30 days from the start of the event: Get a monetary refund with 15% of cancellation charges.

• Cancellations between 30 days and 15 days to the start of the event: 50 %refund.

• Cancellations less than 15 days to the start of the event: No refund.

• Cancellations will be accepted only by email.

Note: The Himalayan Daredevils reserves the right to cancel a program before departure in the event of logistical problems arising due to natural calamities, strikes, wars or any other circumstances that make the event inadvisable. In this case, we will refund 50% of the event fees.

We plan itineraries based on the information available at the time of planning and in rare circumstances, they are subject to change. If the itinerary is changed or delayed due to unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather, transportation delays, government intervention, landslides etc., we will always aim to give you the best experience possible. However, The Himalayan Daredevils not be held responsible for the cost of delay or changes.

The Rohil Basmai Valley Trek is a hidden gem in Kashmir's magic views, giving a clean break for trekkers who like raw beauty and quiet. Tucked in the Anantnag area, this path lets you walk through a mix of high green fields, thick tree woods, clear water streams, and big snow-capped peaks. History of Rohil Basmai Valley Trek

The Rohil Basmai Valley is in a part of Kashmir known for its mix of cultures, ways, and moving lives. For years, these valleys were seasonal fields for the Gujjars and Bakarwals, moving shepherd groups who move with their animals between low and high lands as seasons change. The name "Rohil" might come from old Kashmiri or Dardic words, maybe meaning "field by the edge," while "Basmai" may mean "high field" or "mountain bowl." In the past, these valleys were on old high-Himalaya trade and move paths. Though not a main trade road like the Mughal Road, locals and moving groups used them as links between far homes in the Anantnag area and high grazing lands near the Amarnath and Lidder places. Stories say that shepherd families have used these valleys for over 300 years, using the rich high fields to feed their animals in summer.

During the 19th century under Dogra rule, records show these high fields in land and grazing tax papers, pointing out their worth for shepherd groups. The valleys stayed mostly free of big settlements because they were far off and covered in deep snow in winter, keeping them clean. In the 20th century, as more people began visiting Kashmir, most went to known spots like Pahalgam and Gulmarg. The Rohil Basmai area stayed fairly hidden, visited mostly by local shepherds, hunters, and some brave trekkers. But its beauty slowly pulled in serious walkers looking for less-known trails. Aru also has horse rides, stays in local homes, and looks at snow-topped hills.

• Lidderwat: Lidderwat is a pretty grassland way inside Aru Valley and is the first big camp spot for many Kashmir hikes. Full of rich green lands and small shepherd huts, it gives a top camp time and has lots of wild flowers in the hot months.

• Tulian Lake: A high-up ice lake between Pir Panjal and Zanskar ranges, Tulian Lake has bright blue waters with snow around it even in summer. It’s a hard day’s walk from Aru, good for those who hike a lot.

• Betaab Valley: Near Pahalgam, Betaab Valley is known for film shots, with many Bollywood movies shot here. Its green lands, clear waters, and wide hill views are great for photos and to rest.

• Kolhoi Glacier: A big ice mass in Kashmir, Kolhoi starts the Lidder River. Hard to get to, it’s an amazing view for brave walkers and climbers wanting a wild side path.

How to Get to Rohil Basmai Valley Trek

• By Airport: Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport, Srinagar, near 90 km from Pahalgam, is the nearest flight destination. From there, cabs and buses can take you to Aru.

• By Rail: The closest big train stop is Jammu Tawi, about 260 km away. From there, grab a cab, bus, or share a ride to Srinagar, then go to Aru via Pahalgam.

• By Road: From Srinagar, head to Pahalgam (about 95 km, 3 hours by car) and then to Aru Valley (12 km). Aru is the main spot for the Rohil Basmai Valley Trek. Local cabs, shared jeeps, and tour helpers are there to help you move.
