Life is unpredictable and we understand that sometimes you have to cancel or change your trip dates and we endeavour to make it as easy as possible for you. However, please understand that we plan everything including guide fees, permits, accommodation and rations in advance. Therefore, any cancellation means inconvenience and certain losses to the people involved in various stages of the programme. Keeping that in mind, our cancellation charges are as below -

• Cancellations before 30 days from the start of the event: Get a monetary refund with 15% of cancellation charges.

• Cancellations between 30 days and 15 days to the start of the event: 50 %refund.

• Cancellations less than 15 days to the start of the event: No refund.

• Cancellations will be accepted only by email.

Note: The Himalayan Daredevils reserves the right to cancel a program before departure in the event of logistical problems arising due to natural calamities, strikes, wars or any other circumstances that make the event inadvisable. In this case, we will refund 50% of the event fees.

We plan itineraries based on the information available at the time of planning and in rare circumstances, they are subject to change. If the itinerary is changed or delayed due to unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather, transportation delays, government intervention, landslides etc., we will always aim to give you the best experience possible. However, The Himalayan Daredevils not be held responsible for the cost of delay or changes.

History of Khaliya Top

Khaliya Top, in the Munsiyari area of Uttarakhand, may be now seen as a trek place, but its roots go deep into the culture and history of the Kumaon Himalayas. While the trek has become well-known in recent years, the land it covers has a long history linked with the ways, stories, and acts of the local groups. The Munsiyari area, where Khaliya Top sits, was a trade path to the Indo-Tibetan borders long ago. The local Bhotia tribes, mainly the Shauka folk, would trade over the mountains with Tibet before the 1962 war with China. These traders often walked high paths, some near Khaliya Top. The fields around the top were used by local herders and wandering folk to feed their animals in summer. This act, known as Bugyal grazing, still happens in the area. Khaliya Top is also key in local tales. The folk of Munsiyari and nearby think the area is watched by nature spirits and old gods who care for the forests and mountains. Many see the Himalayas not just as mountains, but as living things with a holy touch. Temples for Goddess Nanda Devi and other gods are all over the area, and many think these peaks and trails have a spirit energy that cleans the soul of trekkers and followers.

• Munsiyari: Just by the start of the Khaliya Top hike, Munsiyari is a sweet hill town, often called the "Little Kashmir of Uttarakhand." It is the way to many high hikes and offers wide views of the Panchachuli peaks. Munsiyari is peaceful, full of local life, and home to the warm Shauka people. Here, you can walk markets, look at temples, and stay in homes while taking in the area's calm beauty.

• Panchachuli Peaks: You can spot these tall, snowy peaks from both Khaliya Top and Munsiyari. These five peaks carry old stories and catch many eyes in the Kumaon area. While going up them is for the very good, the views from places like Khaliya Top are something great for snaps.

• Birthi Waterfall: This waterfall, 35 km from Munsiyari, falls from a rock about 125 meters high, in a spot full of trees and mountainsides. It's a nice place for a day stop, snacks, and just to be in the wild. It gets very full after the rainy season.

• Thamri Kund: This small water spot is up in the woods near Munsiyari. A path through trees like rhododendron and oak leads you to this quiet water place, where you might see some wild deer. The walk to Thamri Kund is gentle and a good way to mix with nature.

• Maheshwari Kund: Only 2 km away from Munsiyari, Maheshwari Kund (or Mehsar Kund) is a lake with old stories about a Yaksha (nature ghost) and locals. Pine trees are all around it, giving it peace with nice sights of the Panchachuli range. It’s good for quiet thinking, storytelling, and hearing old tales.

• Betulidhar: This snowy hill near Khaliya Top is just right for snow games like skiing in winter. It's also known for its beautiful sunrises and sunsets over the mountains. In summer, the hill turns bright with wildflowers, pulling those who love snaps and to enjoy the wild.

Best Time to Go to Khaliya Top

• Spring (March to April): Spring is a great time to go to Khaliya Top. As the snow melts, the path lights up with bright rhododendrons and wildflowers. How to Reach Khaliya Top

• By Airport: The nearest airport is Pantnagar Airport, about 250 km from Munsiyari, where you start the walk. Pantnagar is linked to Delhi and other big places with flights. From the airport, you can get a taxi or bus to Munsiyari via Almora and Bageshwar. It takes about 8–10 hours to drive from Pantnagar to Munsiyari, with nice views of the Kumaon hills.

• By Railway Station: The nearest rail stop is Kathgodam Railway Station, around 275 km away. Kathgodam has many trains from big cities like Delhi, Lucknow, and Kolkata. You can find taxis and buses to Munsiyari from there. The ride takes about 9–10 hours, going through towns like Almora and Thal.

• By Road: Munsiyari is on a road list from all the big towns of Uttarakhand. Roads to there are good from places like Almora (200 km), Bageshwar (130 km), and Pithoragarh (125 km). Buses, jeeps, and taxis are there from these towns. From Delhi, it's about 600 km, you can drive in two days with a stop at places like Almora or Kausani.
