Devalsari Trek

The Devalsari Trek is a scenic trail in Uttarakhand, nestled in the Tehri Garhwal region. It’s known for its peaceful forest paths, rich biodiversity, and views of the Garhwal Himalayas. Unlike more commercial treks, this one is perfect for nature lovers looking for quiet, birdwatching opportunities, and cultural experiences in a remote Himalayan village setting.

The trek is around 8–10 km one way, taking about 5–6 hours to reach Nag Tibba base. It’s an easy to moderate-level trek, ideal for beginners and families. With gradual ascents, thick oak and rhododendron forests, and panoramic views, it's perfect for those seeking adventure without too much strain.

Yes, absolutely. The trek’s gentle terrain and short distance make it a great choice for kids and family groups. Plus, the serene surroundings, local flora and fauna, and village culture offer more than just trekking—there’s a learning and bonding experience in every step, without the chaos of a crowded tourist spot.

The best time to visit is from March to June and September to November. During these months, the weather is pleasant, the skies are clear, and the forest is alive with greenery and birdsong. Avoid the monsoon due to slippery trails and landslides. Winters can be cold but magical with snow-draped paths.

The Devalsari region is rich in biodiversity. You may spot Himalayan langurs, barking deer, porcupines, and a variety of birds like barbets, woodpeckers, and even eagles. The area is a paradise for birdwatchers, with over 150 species recorded. Keep your binoculars ready—you never know what might flutter by!

Mobile connectivity becomes patchy once you enter the deeper forest trail. Some network signals may be available in the base village, but it's best to inform your loved ones in advance. This is actually a great excuse to unplug and enjoy nature without distractions for a while.

Carry light but essential gear—comfortable trekking shoes, warm layers (especially if visiting in colder months), water bottle, torch, rain jacket, basic medicines, and energy snacks. Don’t forget a power bank and a camera—you’ll want to capture the stunning views and forest beauty along the way!
