From stone temples carved in holy places to tranquil caves and windswept cliffs, this trek paradise should not be missed during the monsoon or winter seasons for anyone interested in experiencing the breathtaking wilderness of the Western Ghats. One highlight is Konkankada Cliff, which resembles an amphitheatre-esque structure offering breathtaking vistas - truly an unforgettable journey. This magnificent fort is situated amidst lush vegetation, bubbling streams and diverse biodiversity, making it one of the premier hiking destinations in Maharashtra. The impressive cliffs feature several temples as well as Pushkarni and an enormous Shiva Linga; additionally, there are several caves offering respite from city life. Harishchandragad can be reached from three different trails. Pachnai village provides the easiest path, making it accessible for beginners with little or no trekking experience. Khireshwar's route can be more challenging and should only be attempted by experienced trekkers. Nalichi Vaat offers the toughest climb to its summit. No matter where you begin your trek from Pachnai, Khireshwar or Belpada, at least 9 hours of trekking will be needed in order to reach the summit of your hill fort. Harishchandragad's summit can only be reached via an exhilarating uphill journey, beginning with an hour spent climbing an immense rock face before eventually leading you onto a plateau for some relaxation and enjoying its breathtaking panorama of mountains surrounding you.
