Ramadevara Betta,  an essential hill in the beautiful terrain of Ramanagara, Karnataka, is prayed  for its  aesthetic  excellence and historical and spiritual significance. It has been an ancient hillock and often was  referred to as  Ramagiri. It is no wonder it beckons history enthusiasts, trekkers, and spiritual enthusiasts alike . Ramadevarabetta Vulture Sanctuary: This is a bird sanctuary in Karnataka, India, to protect vultures. It was established in 2012 and is said to be India's first Vulture Sanctuary. Of the nine species of vultures recorded in India, three long-billed, Egyptian and white-backed vultures are noted here. In 2018, the Indian government declared an area of 1.30 meters to 1.80 km from the sanctuary's boundary an eco-sensitive zone (ESZ). The entire eco-sensitive zone area is 7.08 km. Vultures have long inhabited the hills of Ramanagara.  Environmental  activists and bird enthusiasts started raising their voices to have the site declared a sanctuary, as there has been an alarming decline in the population of vultures. The  Ramadevarabetta Vulture Sanctuary was officially  established in 2012 as India's first and only Vulture Sanctuary. Out of the nine species, three species of long-billed, Egyptian, and white-backed vultures are extant in Ramanagara. As many as five long-billed vultures and 25 Egyptian vultures alone are said to exist in the Ramadevarabetta sanctuary in 2020. Biodiversity rich features butterflies, bees, birds, bats, spiders, and snakes, Ramadevarabetta Vulture Sanctuary. As a secondary outcome, the vultures bred in Ramadevarabetta more due to the extensive availability of silk pupae and poultry waste in the surrounding regions. It has been well documented that the population  of Indian vultures long-billed decreased by 97 per cent  , and that of  Egyptian vultures decreased by 99 per cent, according to several research works. The new research has further unveiled that the massive crowds thronging the Ramdevara Temple in the sanctuary and trekkers and bikers are interfering with the raptors' breeding. Ramadevara Betta is a site of history. It was the strategic viewpoint of many rulers, from the great Vijayanagara Empire to the mythical chieftain Kempegowda. The hill disfigures several ancient temples, ruins, and inscriptions  with glimpses of a historical past in this region. It is said that no crows have ever been seen around this place as Lord Rama rescued him from the form  given for a  curse  of  becoming a crow. Ramadevara Betta has ancient temples of Lord Rama and Lakshmana on the hill. The weather is relatively amiable during these periods, and the atmosphere becomes a beautiful vignette of ambient colours. The top of the hill experiences the rainy season between July and October, so one must avoid visiting Ramadevara betta during these times. TIPS FOR VISITING RAMADEVARA BETTA The best season to visit Ramadevara Betta is outside of the monsoon season . Wet roads and slippery trails make one's movement very tiresome, making it challenging to stay afoot.
