Skandhagiri also known as Kalavara Betta is extremely popular for the sunrise view on the backgrounds of oceanic clouds in Bangalore. The trekking in Skandagiri is said to be considered as easy in the start and then goes to moderate in the latter stages and overall the trekking is about 2hrs of moderate too little of difficult climb. In fact, moon light trekking and an early morning decent from here are more popular than normal day time treks due to the coolness of nature during the night and it’s easy to climb when sun is not at Ur top.

Sunrise in Skandagiri

Initial part of the trek during the start is walking that was through a jeep track for certain distance and then the route started ascending a little bit and spotted a huge boulder with warnings written on it, supposedly from the Forest Department as this place needs to be guided as the forest covering this place has wildlife in it.

Things to keep in Mind!

1. Please wear warm clothing in layers. It will be quite chilly in the night.

2. Please carry a 2 liters bottle of water each. Compulsory!

3. Carry some snacks like biscuits etc.

4. Torches Very Important

All we could see near the peak around 5.30 am was the mist. I walked along the southern ridge of the hills, got down the rocks and booked the place for myself and the tripod. There were fleeting glances of the vast valley beneath us and Nandi hills to the right. But, the mist came back stronger in a matter of few seconds. All of us waited there patiently, but the clouds and the rising sun was worth a watch and you can look this at the photos link below: http://www.escape2explore.com/gallery_category.php?category=13
