Monsoon in India brings with it, loads of joy and relief from the torturous heat of the summer. While the layman is happy to experience the change in climate, the trekkers are overjoyed by the fact. Why is that? Simple, because monsoon gives them the opportunity to revel in the arms of nature. Areas around Bangalore provide excellent opportunity for adventure enthusiasts to get their dose of fun. For those who have just caught the adventure bug, worry not, we have five treks around Bangalore that’ll light you up.
1. Dudhsagar Trek

Located on the Mandovi river, Dudhsagar falls trek is a visual and adventure treat of the highest order to say the least. Since, it lies on the Madgaon-Belgaum rail route, it serves as a perfect opportunity for people in the metropolis of Bangalore to head out and have a bit of fun. The scenic beauty is of course a driving factor. Visitors can disembark on the Dudhsagar stop and walk all the way to the site of the falls. The rich biodiversity and unusual terrain make it all the more worthwhile. Camping forms a huge part of this trek and rightfully so. After all, it’s not every day that you get a chance to spend a night near one of India’s tallest waterfall.

2. Tadiandamol Trek

If you are new to trekking then this is one destination you should definitely visit. It is the 3rd highest peak in Karnataka. But, don’t let that fact dampen your spirits. The trail is very well defined and offers a chance to chart your way easily. What’s more, naturalists can have a good time with the Shola forests lying right in its tracks. Oh, and how can we leave out the bit about enchanting views and a chance to talk to the clouds.

3. Nishani Motte Trek
Trust us, when we say that this relatively unknown peak in the Coorg region of Karnataka is a trekking heaven. With forests and meadows aplenty, there is no shortage of excitement. Spectacular views from the misty peak in the Talacauvery/Bhramagiri range are a sight to behold. This being a wildlife region, you would require a permit from the local forest department to trek. But, that’s no reason to sweat. The permit is easily available and is totally worth it.

4. Kodachadri Trek

A national heritage site of the state of Karnataka, the Kodachadri mountain peak is one adventure you wouldn’t want to miss out on. Brilliant sunsets, pristine waterfalls, enchanting flora and fauna, and prehistoric structures are all part of the package. Though the trail here isn’t as defined as the others, moving through the dense jungle can be a venture worth taking. We bet you’ll be mesmerized at the end of this sojourn.

5. Kudremukh Trek

Covering parts of 3 major districts, Kudremukh is literally paradise on earth. Thick hilly forests and coastal plains nearby make it an attractive trekking destination. It isn’t exactly a dense jungle as the monsoon winds prohibit growth of large trees. But, this nature’s trickery has resulted in vast expanse of grasslands, stretching as far as the human eye can see. The rich natural conditions and pleasant climate provides the much needed spur for trekking enthusiasts. The only sad part is you can’t be here forever.
